Vlookup in Aperture

Hi,

Is there a way to do a vlookup in aperture like in excel? I know it can be done somewhat using the join in the workflow but is there an easier way or a function to do so?

Yes you want to use the Workflow step Lookup: https://docs.experianaperture.io/data-quality/aperture-data-studio/objects/workflows/#lookup~workflow-steps

There are also Lookup Functions that allow you to match a value in another Dataset, but i think you want the Workflow step to do Excel like functionality https://docs.experianaperture.io/data-quality/aperture-data-studio/objects/functions/#lookup~native-functions

@Wojciech Glowacki if you've not explored the lookup functions before I'd highly recommend having a play with these as they're very powerful. For a simple 'excel' vlookup equivalent I'd summarise a simple scenario below:

Starting with a dataset with discount code value that i want to lookup against a reference list

The reference list (in my case a View, but it could be a dataset also), has a discount rate which I'm keen to return in my lookup:

The replace matches function is the ideal one in this scenario and when suitably configured (see below) you get the desired result:
