Manual match cluster refinement - Update
I'd like to share some progress we're making with Data Stewardship or as we're calling it, "Cluster refinement" for data matching within Aperture Data Studio.
We've been told by a few of you that it would be a very useful capability. The original post on the community ideas board can be read here.
The improvements we're making to the matching capabilities are:
- Hierarchical clustering, which analyses match levels between similar 2 records and assigns them to more than 1 cluster depending on how that one record matches with others. See the demo video with explanation here.
This video shows how clusters can be reviewed and match levels between 2 records manually amended, e.g. records in a cluster unmerged, merged with records in another cluster or even moved into a new cluster. The match level review will be available for L2 and L3 (probably, possible) match levels to begin with.
3. Here is another example of the match level review and we talk in more detail about how score exceptions work, i.e. the scoring and therefore match level that the rules created now have exception applied by making those manual adjustments.
4. There will also be an option to perform a selective review for any match level, by searching for the record that you have more information about or would like to check the matches for.
5. Lastly, if several users are working on reviewing and refining matches, one might want to see what the other has done and also if records have these exceptions (to the rules) applied. This video talks about what we're planning to begin with.
If you have any feedback about what you have seen, comments on the design, questions, requests you'd like to raise for later improvements, please feel free to leave comments below, or write me a private message.
I've also sent out a survey recently to determine priorities. If you'd like to take part now or in the future in any other new product enhancement previews, user testing feedback sessions etc., feel free to sign up to our product advisor panel and we will contact you with opportunities.
