Issue list - see comments?

Hi, is there a way to see all the comments that have been added to an issue list? Also, can comments only be updated manually?

Thanks

  • And to be clear, I meant export the Issue list to a report. When I view the Issue list data within a workflow, I do not see the comments data. Thanks

Hello, you can only add a comment manually in the issue screen. There is no way to see all comments on all issues (all at once).

What is it you are actually trying to achieve with Issue lists?

  • Hi @Josh Boxer I am about to begin a long cycle of data validation with a large team of business experts. As we encounter specific issues, I want to log that in the comments associated with an issue. At the end of the cycle I want to run reports on issues - metrics associated with it, and would also like to include comments to see if there are any patterns or common root causes. Plus that acts as an audit trail. The only thing I can think of is using custom status instead. E.g. 'Previous-conversion', 'Fix in Target', 'Data Entry Error' etc.

    Thanks

  • @Josh Boxer what are typical ways that issue lists are used? And are there any plans for seeing comments in future releases? Also, what do you think of the solution using custom status? Thanks

There are currently no plans to include comments in a Workflow. Since this is free text and there could be many comments per issue it could become quite unwieldy.

I do not think custom status is the correct implementation for a few reasons but mostly as the status will be automatically updated to 'Resolved' once the issue no longer appears in the data.

Are you planning to utilize the 'External ID' field for anything? This could be a good option. Users are able to enter a value, it appears in the Issue list list screen, in the Source step output and can be updated in bulk to populate missing values and standardize existing values.

  • Thanks Josh - I had not thought about the 'External ID' field, but that seems like it could be the way to go.
