UPRN Validation

I was using the address validation function to validate StreetTown and PostTown against the UPRN on a small subset of data. For some of the records, the street town is different from Royal Mail information.

For example:

UPRN 1 - StreetTown: Glengolly - PostTown: Thurso

UPRN 2 (next door to UPRN 1) - StreetTown: Thurso - PostTown: Thurso

If I check both addresses on RoyalMail Address Finder, both have the StreetTown as Glengolly and the PostTown as Thurso.

Is there anyway to figure out where the error originated?

Speaking to our Address team and they mentioned that there are two sources of data which could cause a mismatch from what you are expecting.

OrdnanceSurvey -> Addressbase Premium - UPRN
RoyalMail -> The official UK PAF

If they are out of sync then you could try updating the data from Electronic Updates depending on when this was last done.

If you want to raise a support case with the two addresses, the version of Data Studio you are using they will be able to provide more specific detail and confirm the situation.
