The latest version of Data Studio introduces new features, existing functionality enhancements, performance improvements and a number of bug fixes. Try it out.

New features include:

  • The Find duplicates step enhancements to provide more powerful data matching capabilities:
    • cross-field matching allows you to match across multiple fields of the same type to find potential duplicates.
    • search-specific rules and schemas allow you to find customers in the duplicate store based on specific or limited search criteria rather than having to submit data for every field mapped in the Find duplicates step.
    • an updated contact data standardization service with address classification improvements
  • Improvements to the Validate phone numbers step - ability to select a country column and filter on countries.
  • Address validation engine updates, re-certified for CASS and other global certification programs, and with access to a range of new data enrichment sets.
  • A variety of SDK enhancements and bug fixes, giving custom step developers more of the tools needed to create powerful and feature-rich step.
  • Built-in support for the Netezza JDBC driver

    Worth mentioning that as part of the Cross-field Matching feature we also improved the syntax for using groups in the Find Duplicates step Rules. Essentially, setting up Groups allows you to use multiple fields of the same type in a Find Duplicates step, a very simple example being "mobile phone" and "Home phone" which would need to be put in to groups "phone group 1", "phone group 2"

    Now you can use a string of groups in a Blocking key or Rule.

    Before (example of 2 Phone Groups Blocking Key in Data Studio v1.4 characters 9 - 11 only):

            {
                       "description": "Mobile Phone",
                       "elementSpecifications":[
                {
                       "elementType": "PHONE",
                       "elementGroups": ["Mobile Phone"],
                                 "includeFromNChars": 11,
                       "properties": {
                          "START" : "9",
                          "END" : "11"
                  }
              {
                       "description": "Home Phone",
                       "elementSpecifications":[
                {
                       "elementType": "PHONE",
                       "elementGroups": ["Home Phone"],
                       "includeFromNChars": 11,
                       "properties": {
                          "START" : "9",
                          "END" : "11"
                  }
                  },

    After (example of 2 Phone Groups Blocking Key in Data Studio v1.5 characters 9 - 11 only):

    {
               "description": "Mobile Phone, Home Phone",
               "elementSpecifications":[
        {
               "elementType": "PHONE",
               "elementGroups": ["Mobile Phone, Home Phone"],
               "includeFromNChars": 11,
               "properties": {
                  "START" : "9",
                  "END" : "11"
          }
          },

    As you can see, this will massively simplify the blocking keys and rules when we start to use large groups of the same field to match against (or match between if you use Cross-field Matching!)
